Statement by SA civil society & sports groups on boycott decision by Minister of Sport

JOINT STATEMENT BY SA CIVIL SOCIETY AND SPORTS ORGANISATIONS
In support of South African Sport Minister’s boycott of Davis Cup Israel Tennis Match

31 January 2018

We, the undersigned, from a variety of South African organisations, faith groups, sports bodies and others, welcome and are greatly encouraged by the decision of South Africa’s Minister of Sport and Recreation, Hon. Thulas Nxesi, to boycott the forthcoming Davis Tennis Cup match wherein Israel is playing (https://goo.gl/pbaucW).

As our former President Nelson Mandela has said “our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinian people.”
