PRESS STATEMENT: Copy of Africa4Palestine affidavit submitted to High Court

Attached find a copy of the affidavit submitted by Africa4Palestine to the High Court of South Africa (Gauteng Division Pretoria) applying to be Amicus Curiae in the court case brought by the Israeli lobby against the Government of South Africa and the South African Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture. The Israeli lobby, through a front organisation “Citizens of Integrity”, want the Minister to retrospectively overturn his decision to withdraw his support for Miss SA being in Apartheid Israel.
Africa4Palestine’s application to be an Amicus Curiae is supported by a wide group of South African organizations, including the Women’s Cultural Group, Media Review Network (MRN), Palestine Solidarity Campaign (PSC), Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU), Young Hearts 4 Palestine, Youth 4 Palestine, Uwais Qarni Center, YCL, NC4P, KZN PSF, Swaziland Solidarity Network (SSN), Association of Muslim Accountants and Lawyers (AMAL), FOCUS, Ex Political Prisoners Association of South Africa and others.
The court case (60035/21) is being heard today at 10h30 at the High Court in Pretoria where there will also be a picket by Africa4Palestine and others in support of the SA Government and the South African Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture’s decision to have withdrawn support for Miss SA being in Apartheid Israel. The picket will be limited due to the current omicron covid 4th wave. Members of the media are invited to attend and cover the picket.
